Nanea Mitchell and Me

August 25th weekend was the big celebration at  all the American Girl stores when Nanea Mitchell was finally released to the world. It seems like a year since American Girl announced that she would be the latest BeForever doll. From the day she was announced I knew that I wanted to have her.  We went to the Nashville store that weekend for the big celebration.

"Celebrate the debut of a girl whose aloha spirit runs deep—Nanea Mitchell! This event will introduce girls to Nanea’s world in 1941 Hawaii, with hula troupes performing the authentic Hawaiian dance, a fun free craft, and a yummy island-inspired treat. Girls will even get a doll drawstring bag giveaway and a chance to win a Nanea doll of their own! To add to the fun, come dressed up in your best Hawaiian-themed outfit. Treat and giveaway are available while supplies last."

When Mommy and I arrived the first thing we saw were the pretty little hula girls dancing outside the store entrance, in the mall,  to Aloha Oe. It's such a beautiful song and always makes me cry. When we went into the store and I nearly cried again. There was Nanea, all her pretty outfits and accessories and Puno's Market. The lovely things I had only seen online.  I probably  watched this video about 100 times in the weeks before Nanea's event.

Our reservation for lunch was in a hour but I just could not wait to get Nenae.  We bought Nanea, her hula outfit and her set of three books! I remember I was tingling all over in excitement.

Then we finally were able to sit and relax for lunch at the AG cafe.  I love the Pink Lemonade, fancy fruit fondue (Fresh fruit kabobs and mini banana muffins are perfect for dipping in creamy strawberry yogurt.) and the Chicken Tenders (which comes with a side of Mac & Cheese). For dessert I had a chocolate ice cream sundae. Yummy!

I forgot to mention that I brought my Samantha with me to the event. I'll blog all about her another time. She was so excited that now she has a sister! They can share outfits!

After lunch we watched the hula dancers again and took another look at Nanea's dresses one more time.  I already knew which ones I wanted to get next.  I could not wait to get home and take Nanea out of the box.

An even bigger surprise was waiting for me when I got home. A big box (Pono's Market!!)  and a few more surprises.  I spent the rest of the day setting it up. Over the last 2 weeks I got everything together. So I decided that I am going to blog about my adventures with Nanea and her sister Samantha.  I will write all about the market and Nanea's lovely accessories soon!
